Howard Nightingall studierte Schauspiel an der Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London. Seit 1983 tritt er im Theater, Film, Fernsehen und Radio auf. Er hat für zahlreiche Fernsehsender wie Channel 4, BBC, Channel 5, ORF, SAT1 und The Discovery Channel gearbeitet. Howard Nightingall lebt mit seiner Frau und seinen zwei Kindern in Wien.
